A Journey of Vision: Our Experience at the Burj Khalifa Projection Design Competition
Every creative project starts with a spark — a reason to dream, to take a risk, and to share a vision with the world. For us, that spark was the Burj Khalifa Projection Design Competition. When we first heard about this challenge, we knew it was more than just a contest. It was an invitation to showcase creativity on one of the most iconic landmarks in the world; the Burj Khalifa, a symbol of human ambition, innovation, and cultural pride.
We joined because we wanted to push our imagination further, to tell a story that connects tradition with modernity, and to take part in a platform where design becomes more than visuals, it becomes an experience.
Our concept, “From Sand to Sky, From Light to Summit,” was inspired by the transformation of the Arab world itself. The desert, filled with memory and resilience, evolves into a vision of progress reaching toward the future. Just as the Burj Khalifa rises from the ground into the sky, our story symbolized ambition, heritage, and innovation. Through projection mapping, we wanted to merge cultural identity with cutting-edge technology, showing that true progress always begins with deep roots.

An Unforgettable Creative Challenge
The Burj Khalifa Projection Design Competition, organized by Emaar, is one of Dubai’s most prestigious creative challenges. It brings together designers, storytellers, and innovators from around the world to present their vision through projection mapping on the world’s tallest building. The scale of this challenge alone is inspiring turning the Burj Khalifa into a canvas for light, motion, and meaning.
For us, participating meant stepping into a global stage where imagination knows no limits. It wasn’t just about design skills. It was about asking ourselves bigger questions: How can light tell a story? How can architecture become a voice for culture? How can tradition inspire innovation?
What We Gained from the Journey
While our design was not selected as one of the winners, the experience was priceless. We discovered new creative approaches, strengthened our belief in storytelling through design, and felt the thrill of being part of an initiative that celebrates imagination on such a monumental scale.
The journey gave us something no award could replace, the chance to test our boundaries, to learn, and to connect with a community of like-minded innovators who believe in the power of creativity. It reminded us that sometimes the most important result is not the recognition, but the growth and inspiration we carry forward.

We didn’t want this journey to end with the competition. That’s why we re-edited and refined our video to highlight not only our design, but also the vision, the story, and the passion behind it. This project is also our way of celebrating Dubai’s role as a global hub for creativity, culture, and innovation. Few places in the world bring together tradition and progress as seamlessly as Dubai, and being part of this competition gave us the chance to honor that spirit.
